Hidden WW2 Air Raid shelters in the historic dockyard

There are several air raid shelters from ww2 that still exist to this day but are not available for public access at this time . The largest of these was the vaulted tunnel designed by Marc Brunel for the sawmill but after the closure of the timber yard it was converted for use as a Civil Defence HQ and remained in use during WW2. I believe this is a picture of one of the entrances viewed from the sawmill


There are also some built under the road in front of Officers Terrace , the doors are obscured by brick walls probably for blast protection , I think you can see the word “AIR” faintly above the door in this picture
