Number 1 Smithery

No.1 Smithery is a Grade II listed national monument , between 1806 and 1808 it was used to manufacture Anchors and chains

It is a joint project between the Chatham Historic Dockyard Trust, Royal Museums Greenwich and Imperial War Museums .

Many ship models from the National Maritime Museum’s collection are on display there.
it’s made up of The King’s Dockyard Gallery and The National Maritime Museums Gallery .
More than 3,000 objects are housed in purpose built storage areas at No.1 Smithery. Glass viewing walls and windows enable visitors to see into one of the collections storerooms and the items held.
Access to the stored collections of ships models at No. 1 Smithery is by appointment only
