Salute to the 40’s weekend 17th – 18th September 2016 Updated Post

It’s one of the best vintage festivals of the year, live vintage music , live vintage dancing including Lindy Hop and live variety acts including a George Formby experience . It runs over 2 days tickets are available at the Chatham dockyard website for either or both of the days.

There will also be 100’s of 1940’s civilian and military re-enactors , if you fancy a laugh the turn up in period clothes as well , you won’t be alone !

There’s always an array of traders on site selling vintage goodies

The spirit of Kent spitfire will fly overhead , weather permitting , accompanied by music and commentary :- sadly the Spitfire event is cancelled but ab enhanced musical event is planned for both dsyd

The HMS Cavalier , a WW2 war destroyer will fire a midday salute on both days

Wheels and Frills is a new thing this year , a collection of vintage traders and caterers , if the NAAFI van from last year is back then their bread pudding is to die for and was a bargain £1 for a hughe chunk

As last year there will be hundreds of vintage vehicles on display and the dockyards own steam engines should be running

Well worth a visit for the memories or as a value family day out.

Reposted as it is coming up in two weeks , sadly I’m not able to go but I’ll post links to anything I find after the event , there’s normally some good YouTube videos posted .

here’s a previous years Youtube video
