The Dutch attack on Chatham docks 10th June 1667

Next year is the 350 year anniversary of the attack by the Dutch that destroyed the British armada at anchor on the River Medway .

It’s rumoured that they will be a huge event next year on the river Medway involving events between here and Upnor Castle . There’s meant to be a huge fireworks display to represent the attack .

If you are planning a visit next year then I’d arrange it around the anniversary date , book early while accommodation is still cheap (there is a page on my blog dedicated to local accommodation) . There’s plenty of areas where you will get a good view.

There’s an account in William Pepys diary for that day Here
