John Rennie and Chatham Dockyard

Found this stone today in the Dockyard at the bottom of the middle set of stairs to officers Terrace . It’s near to one of the hidden air raid shelters

Appears it’s from this man

Who was building dry docks , canals and bridges before Brunel and the other better known engineers.

I believe he built the first dry dock at Chatham and was meant to be involved with the development of Officers Terrace.
